Software Update – 4.7.3
Our last two updates were bug-fix releases (16 bug fixes in 4.7.1 and 4.7.2 combined). Today, the 4.7.3 update brings a plethora of new features, improvements, and a whopping 45 bug fixes! So, if you’ve not updated OKTOPUS in a while, this is as good a time as ever.
First things, first – new features. We’ve added what some may consider a must-have tool in the whiteboard software category and we’ve brought you what we call Permaclone. You may know this by other names like Infinite Clone, but I think by now you know we like to come up with our own quirky names!
To get Permaclone enabled for an object, just click it, and enable the Permaclone icon on the object toolbar.
The object will remain locked in place and when you click or tap and drag, you’ll get new instances of the object. To disable Permaclone, tap once on the object and tap Permaclone again to turn it off.
Our other new feature is PDF import. PDFs will be imported in portrait-syle as a locked image. You can double-tap the import and unlock if you need to move it around or zoom in etc. This may work well for some, but for others who need more granular control over the way you use your PDFs, you can still open them in your favorite PDF viewer and use the OKTOPUS Glass Mode feature to annotate and capture screenshots.

Software Update – 4.7.0
With today’s update we’ve added a lot of improvements to help with productivity like better clipboard support from Microsoft Office, implementing standard keyboard shortcuts when working with text, and general performance improvements.
Now on to our new feature!
We know that flat panels, interactive screens, or whatever they are known to you, are often used only large displays rather than a way to truly interact with students.
With our last update, we added GameZones, where you can create up to 4 zones so each student has their own section of the screen, allowing them to work in teams or individually on a game of their choice.
With 4.7.0 we’ve expanded the possibilities of how students can interact with your question slides, right on your front-of-class interactive display. Need a reminder of how to set up questions on your OKTOPUS slides? See Setting Up Questions Slides.
Once you’ve set up a slide, hit Settings > Presentation Setup, and choose “Respond With: Touchscreen (1-4 Players)”
When you start, your students will be able to line up at the display, read the question, and tap to answer. Fastest finger on the correct answer gets the most points, sparking further engagement and competition to see who can get the highest score!

Software Update – 4.6.0
We’ve got loads to talk about with our latest release.
A brand new application, OKTOPUS GameZones has been added to OKTOPUS as a free upgrade. GameZones is a quadrant educational games app supporting 1-4 players, designed for touchscreens. Zones include Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, and Science. It also includes Teacher Tools to support front-of-class teaching. Also part of the 4.6.0 release is a brand new Launcher, which is designed to provide quick shortcuts to collaboration, lesson content options, and the new GameZones application.
For our new users we’ve also included tutorial walkthroughs to help you learn more about OKTOPUS as you start using it.
As promised, we’ve also brought back Glass Mode and we’ve kept the new Simple Glass Mode. You can choose the best option for you.
We often find OKTOPUS going places we’ve never been before, which is why we’ve added Catalonian as a new language option.

Software Update – 4.5.5
A new truly-4K performance enhanced version of OKTOPUS is now available to download!
We’ve made our pen super-fast, even on 4K displays with limited spec hardware and integrated graphics. This should also make a difference to the pen speed for all our users, no matter what type of display or other hardware they are using.
In order to achieve this, we have unfortunately been required to make a major change to our software surrounding Glass Mode. For more information about how this will affect your OKTOPUS usage, please see the Glass Mode section of our user guide.
However, do not fear, we will be bringing back Glass Mode the way you have been using it with another update in the very near future.
In other really exciting news, OKTOPUS now has brand new interactive activities. Find the link for these in your toolset selector. They support dual and quad screen layout, and each section can run its own activity! And for tabletop users, there is even better news – they can be rotated for up to 4 users around your screen!

We’ve implemented the Smart Notebook import improvements as requested by our community, we’ve made that change to the Periodic Table that was reported to us, we’ve implemented a new touch-friendly Presentation Setup screen, and we’ve also brought a whole list of other improvements and bug fixes to the table!

Software Update – 4.5.0
We’re delighted to announce that our latest and greatest version of OKTOPUS is now available!
We’ve made some major changes to our polling support, by now making it possible to set up each slide as a specific question, with answer options and correct answer specified.
We’ve also added in nested slides, so you can add a subset of slides to any standard slide.
Based on community feedback, we’ve also added in additional shapes and set up a limit for significant figures.

OKTOPUS 4.4.52 is now available for download!
We are delighted to announce that OKTOPUS can now import Smart Notebook files directly – as requested by many of our users who are now using OKTOPUS after moving away from Notebook.
We have also added in the ability to choose your own collaboration ports (that one is for the network admins), we’ve got even more backgrounds to choose from, and we’ve implemented a brand new design for our webcam feed tool!
We’ve also made some performance improvements, tidied up our highlighter UI, fixed some undo/redo functionality, and a whole lot more. The change log has all the info.

Software Update – 4.4.46
The latest version of Qwizdom OKTOPUS is now available!
In this release we’ve implemented lots more background options including lined paper, graphing paper, and some new colours.
We’ve also added a buzzer sound to our countdown timer, improved scrolling through the sidebar, and made the handwriting recognition available in every tool category. Check out the change log for all the updates.
